Anil Swarup, former secretary of the government of India and author believes that we all inherently know what is “good”. We are also getting bombarded by the volume of information. Swarup is the author of the book "Not just a Civil Servant" which was launched in February 2019. Before joining IAS, he worked as an Indian Police Service officer for one year. Swarup in his 38 years of career has served in various capacities and later went on to become the Secretary to the Government of India. Anil Swarup is an Indian author and retired Indian Administrative Service officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre and 1981 batch. There are a few things that haven't aged well in this book. The story has a wonderful conclusion, perhaps some might find it a bit too fairytale but as a child I absolutely loved this. The rest of the story follows Kizzy through the following year and her problems with the so called respectable children. When the time comes Kizzy can't live with Gran anymore some disreputable family members come to take her. She goes to the local school and is taunted and bullied. Kizzy is from a traveller family, she lives with her Gran in a wagon parked in the orchard of Admiral Twiss' country estate. |
